Jungwon's Portfolio (47) 썸네일형 리스트형 Dreaming SHOE Everyone could long for the grown-up’s world when they are young. My wish in the childhood was wearing a nice high heels like an adult. This work talks about my past dream when I was a girl with full of curiosity and wanting to grow up fast in order to enter the grown-up’s world. Diverse kinds of color, fabrics printed with fancy patterns, a steel wire, and other interesti.. Ms. Beauty Ms. Beauty Women never stop their pursuit of beauty. They decorate themselves with makeup and fancy clothes. This work is motivated by models and talks about dignified women by having beauty. I tried different methods like making a carbon copy from the magazine to finish the work. Concrete jungle The first impression of the city packed with buildings is like a concrete jungle. The inside of it is related one to another, so if one of them is missing, all the relationship collapse. In this work, the thread dangling from one to other represent this characteristic of the city. Also, my favorite part of the city, the lights of the urban nightscape, is done by diverse kinds .. Introduce myself ! Introduce myself ! People introduce themselves with the language. It is a simple speech, but can be seen as a moment to give the person’s first impression to others. While thinking about this, I made a portrait with words describing me. I only used three simple colors to simplify the form and shade of my face. Real DISTOPIA Flowers are beautiful but feeble existences. Especially a thin stem holding a flower makes me think of a slender but honorable life. However, there is also ‘strongness’ on the other side of flowers. There needs to be time and patience for a flower to put down roots and start to sprout. This effort must be ‘strongness’ of flower in order to overcome ‘dystopia’ and b.. Walking into the past Walking into the past Each nation has their own traditional art. I reinterpreted the Korean traditional painting about the ten traditional Symbols of Longevity. In my work, there are imaginary animals drawn by specific lines and a few colors in order to follow Korean traditional painting but, I put myself into the landscape and used the Western mediums at the same time. Memories patch Memories patch My brain is full of pieces of my memory, so I wanted to make a work about the process of how the past experience transfers into the memory in the present. I divided the paper and fill the parts with my lousy memory about visiting Cambodia, living in the city, and things that I am afraid of. I used diverse kinds of color to express this remembrance into pieces. Flowerful synergy Flowerful synergy Flowers are the symbol of beauty, but can be jealousy of one another. However, their beauty stands out when they are together. Thus, I made a work emphasizing their relationship by using unusual materials, home appliances. The each part of the work expresses their uniqueness and refers different meanings like thousands of different kinds of flowers. Connection Connection If you look closely at leaves of plants, each leaf is in harmony with others. The appearance of different kinds of leaves coming from a stem can be seen as a family that cannot be separated. However, this kinds of leaves have specific veins on each one of them. I looked carefully on this veins and transformed the patterns to my work by using basic materials. In the .. My daily trip My daily trip I put diverse kinds of my daily life on one work. There is me as a student studying at the library, going somewhere by bus, playing my only game Tetris and breaking away from my ordinary life on the work. The sea on the background symbolizes me getting a rest at the last. The work is a scenery of my mind although each of them can refer to different meanings. NO JW, NO NY ! Everyone has a dream about their future. My dream is living in New York City. New York is a place for me to dream and challenge. Thus, I put the images of New York City on my hair, and filled the background with my favorite and passionated color red in this work.
